Online dating?

i just need an opinion...





a guy is asking me to be his girl he lives in new york and i live in michigan should i date him? i dont know about meeting in person and i dont much info about him yet but i could ask around he knows a good friend of mine

Oh, come on! If you are not planning to meet in person, then there is no point. And even if you were prepared to meet him, the distance is just too great. So, just find someone in your area please!
Reply:There is nothing wrong with taking the time to get to know him before you take the step of meeting him or beginning a relationship with him. If it's meant to be...he would understand and let you take the time you need to feel comfortable with everything. No need to rush anything. Best to be cautious.
Reply:How long do you think you would be able to handle the long distance. Are you are a needy person? If you I would not advise you because he is not going to be there when you always want or need him to.
Reply:You know, I'm kind of mesmerized by questions like yours. How do you date somebody online? Will you never speak to them on the phone? Never meet them in person? I don't understand how anyone can call that dating, nor why they'd want to do it.

Reply:I could never do that because you are taking a huge risk when a person isn't physically there. You can't read body language or expressions. I would take a chance on meeting people where I am from. I don't trust it.
Reply:you have to be real careful because people can fake their age. If you ever wanted to meet him, bring a friend along with you. Online dating is not wrong at all, i've done it and we've been dating for two years and always fly out to see each other throughout every hoilday. (i live in canada and he lives in united kingdom). i will be moving there after college and i think its great. Online dating gives you a better chance in getting to know the person. If he knows your good friend then hes obviously a good guy or just ask your friend about him.

Reply:Wow.. I would advise against this. Most long term relationships fizzle after awhile. Unless you or him are willing to (and I'm not sure if you're working full-time, a student..etc..) relocate to be closer, then yeah, just feel free to be friends and that's it. Plus, not to sound like a skeptic, but one never knows how faithful the other is, especially when they're miles apart. Of course, sometimes, it's tough to figure that out when it's local, too.

The main thing that I tell them when they begin their online search for dating potentials, is to limit their search to be within their metropolitan area. A forty-five minute to an hour drive isn't bad... but an out-of-state relationship is definitely extremely difficult to manage!





I would recommend to keep this relationship as an online friendship for now. Perhaps when your situations change in the near future, and one of you happens to live or move in the same area as the other, then you could re-assess your situation.





However, there are exceptions to the rule! My wife and I were actually from separate countries! I had to fly out of state to see her for three months while she was visiting friends in the U.S.! However, we had been talking with each other online and via telephone for over three months before we got to the "dating in person" part. (Dating like this is quite expensive however!)

Reply:Your age is very important and if young, you should not arrange to meet anyone without some other people around or until you are one hundred percent sure about that person, which is hard to do until you can verify who they are via meeting them or knowing someone you can trust who has met them. So for sure, ask your friend and see what she/he says. Make him come to you and not you going to him. Good luck.
Reply:well first try phone calls....then if and when u are ready to meet make sure to meet in a public place...like Appleby's Restaurant, etc....make sure several people know where u are going and when to expect a phone call from u....make sure they check on u as well during this "date time"....one can never be too safe
Reply:I old r u first. I am asking becuase u may be too young for online dating becuase it can be dangerous. but if he knows your friend and he's good then I see why not but it all depends on your age.

Reply:Id say that unless his local online meeting is okay once uve gotten to know him very well, but that far, nah...i dont think so it can be dangerous with so many things goin on. Nowadays not even sure if its safe online dating, u dont know if their telling you the truth of whom they say thy r or wht they look like or their age....id say becareful.

Reply:You shouldn't date him since its over the Internet and it could be a sex offender and/or a rapist. Never trust anyone on the internet its not worth it or your life
