Online dating question. What is with people that are one dating sites for years?

I have tried online dating and had moderate success. I am curious at the number of men (I presume it's the same way with the women too) that are on these site for years. I was checking out a site that I joined 3 years ago and haven't been on in about 2 and half years and there are so many of the same men on there and most of them have the same pictures and same bios and they have been active recently. I seen about 5 guys that I met almost 3 years ago and they are still on with the same ad. When I was doing online dating, I changed services a few times to increase my chance of meeting someone and felt that 6 months was long enough to stay on one site if I wasn't getting any response. These guys go on about how great they are and many of them rejected me for some superficial reason but here they are today still on the sites where I have met someone.

Here is the answer for you. Trust me on that, I know as an online dating veteran. I have been dating online for nearly ten years. I have been married twice since I first started, and divorced twice. In between my marriages I talked to some people who have been on dating sites (match.com in particular) since I was there the very first time around, and I met some people like that. They were there ten years ago. Then the same people were there seven years ago (after my first divorce). Then a year and a half ago (after my second divorce), the same people are still there. And I met many of them. It is clear like a sunny day that they are not looking to get attached. Ever. Reply:it could be all they want is some company online or they are attached and just want some online titillation or maybe they lie on their profile and dont realise that spoils their chances

Anyhow, I think on-line dating is a good way to meet someone who is compatible. Yes; it's all about compatibility and you can compare it to sales. In sales they say, you have to work 100 contacts to make that one sale. To find that one person that matches what you are selling. Dating is kind of like that.





You also have to realize, there are weird people out there as well as those who are just not compatible. To weed them out, you have to go slow. By that I mean, email for a while and don't be impatient to get on the phone or meet. Through someones writing you can discover their education level, likes and dislikes, sincerity, financial standing, past history etc. etc. Then when everything falls into place and you find there is compatibility, you take it a step further.

Reply:The reason there on it for years is because they have met many people and have a lot of friends on the site and that's a good way to keep intouch they refer all there NEW friends there and they all keep intouch with each other as well as dating friends, its like a big Network ..There are alot of people that never get to met who they talk to on the site for what ever reasons one jobs are to demanding kids and they never really met the right person yet so they hope one day they met the right person it may never be on line but rather meet some where else ,where ever fate takes you..Have a Great Day Brenda
